Mike Costello is freelance creative director, brand builder & problem solver based in L.A.

Mike is a multidisciplinary creative director, art director, and occasional writer with two decades of industry experience.

Over the years, he’s led and shaped award-winning, results-driven work as both a full-time and freelance creative at top global agencies including BBDO, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Leo Burnett, Arnold, Saatchi & Saatchi, and others.

At Arnold, Mike played a key role on the groundbreaking truth® anti-smoking campaign—named Campaign of the Decade by Adweek, one of Ad Age’s top 15 campaigns of the 21st century, and widely credited with driving youth smoking rates to historic lows.

During his time at
Leo Burnett he co-led the creation of the Grand Prix–winning Van Gogh BnB—Airbnb’s most visited listing ever—which turned a museum exhibit into a global cultural moment and delivered the Art Institute of Chicago’s most successful show in over a decade.


At Goodby Silverstein & Partners, he was part of the team that brought in Liberty Mutual, a win that helped earn the agency Ad Age’s Comeback Agency of the Year honors.

Mike's been named one of
Adweek’s Top 100 Creatives, nominated for a public service Emmy, and—if you're still reading—genuinely flattered.
